Meet Our Head Coach -Coach CJ

Cynthia Johnson is currently head coach for the NJBD's and an 18'1s coach for Olympus Volleyball club. Previously she was a coach for the North Atlanta Volleyball Club for four years. With NAVC, Cynthia has coached twelve-year-old, fifteen-year-old and sixteen-year-old girl's teams. With Wheeler high school she had the opportunity to coach junior varsity for one year. Currently, during this summer season, she is involved with training a sand team for a Destin junior's tournament for the second year in a row. Cynthia's team's have had winning records and enthusiastic athletes who have stayed with volleyball due to the positive experience.  As a player, she has been playing volleyball for over 25 years. Within the last twelve years, CJ has focused more on sand and grass volleyball than indoor. CJ has played indoor for many of her younger years and won three consecutive times at the Southern Regional tournament. This allowed her to participate at Nationals with a free entrance fee while making it to Gold and Silver Brackets. This time-frame was a challenging learning experience for CJ, and the most exciting time of her youth. CJ has also played in large sand tournaments at Fudpuckers in Destin, Florida, and won tournaments in 2001 and 2007. CJ believes that keeping a positive attitude is what makes the sport fun and picking supportive teams with the same attitude has been more important than winning – but the result was success, when it wasn't really the goal. Helping others stay positive is how you make a team stay strong, passionate, and cohesive. She wants to bring the same things she's enjoyed to younger players, so that they can build friendships, have a great way of life, and win some games along the way.
